Eleven:35

Drowsy warmth

In the lingering sun

It’s not yet midday

A warmth of hands

Clutching both cheeks

And raising these sun-shocked

eyes

Shall a kiss burnt

Upon my brow or

Lips

Wherever I’m a child

Nonetheless

Closing my eyes

She paints each lid

Orange and red
