i.) Love Thy Neighbour

They cut the leaning

tree of lady liberty

next door.

I notice the streetlight

now, spread through

the translucent

bathroom mirror.

The neighbours left

for a place where

only a few care

and not for long

there.

A ten year old lost

his firs and last

puppy to some

inconsiderate

complaint.

With one conscience

as justly empty

as their own.

I sleep with

their sons and daughters

in an equally empty home.
